FIVE-MILE HOUSE APARTMENTS
1003 LEAF AVENUE
STOCKTON CA 95207
I have been a tenant of Five-mile house apartments for two years and have had many problems living here. This apartment complex is not a recommendation I would give to any one looking to live in a clean and safe environment. I have been here to see many people come and go, including apartment managers. Our first manager was bound to a wheel chair and his wife was blind, they were incapable of managing a complex of this sort due to the fact the upstairs apartments are not handicap friendly, they do not have a elevator or ramp for access, so maintenance upstairs never happened.
When the new manager arrived we were glad to find they were a sweet nice couple. Little did we know they were young immature people that were very improper for the job they were to take part in. I have more than reason to say that they are an unsuitable match for this position. They threw a pool party, playing loud unsuitable music and exceeding the maximum pool requirement, they would always speed through the parking lot with a disregard to children pets and property.
When my fiancé and I moved it we assumed it would be a great new start. We thought wrong after signing the lease we noticed our carpet was sewn together, the cabinets were falling apart, the patio sliding door would not lock, the closets were put together like some ***** built the house, and the paint in our restroom was not the correct paint. Our apartment was one of many that have had mold problems. I would inform the manager all the time about this problem and would get responses such as “you must clean the ceiling fan for it to work properly” and “ you must clean the mold, it occurred due to condensation you created”. Without looking at the mold they informed me that it was not harmful to us or are pets. My question was how did they know what kind of mold it even was. I was making it a weekly chore to clean the mold in our restroom. Though it was an unlivable situation and we were at times forced to take showers else where, we were told we had no choice but to continue paying rent until we decided to move.
The neighbor hood is fairly quite during the day, but at night it is a different story. Downstairs from us we had moaning women and load music, next door we had constantly slamming doors and down the hall there was unstoppable yelling and spouse abuse. Not to mention the homeless people that slept in the creek next to the apartments. Walking to a store at night for us was a no go. True the complex is very close to a shopping center, but honestly the shopping center is going down hill. Starbucks has closed, so has the dry cleaner and cigarette store. All of the restaurants in the area are very pricey for what they offer and the Walgreen’s and liquor store are a disgrace. To wrap it up we had to move things here became unbearable.
